8th February

I took this book away with me at the weekend to try to get it finished by the book group on Wednesday, but only got about a quarter of the way through it. I finished it tonight, though, as Jonathan was out at a rather long meeting. 8/10 and a very enjoyable read.

6th February

In the evening we had a primary school disco, so here are some of the participants dressed for the event.

6th February

Wide game at Winter @ the Quinta - it was titled "Lord of the Ring Doughnuts" and was run by Dave and Maureen Wilkinson. There were wool lives around arms, balloons and doughnuts to get to a destination, black nights and other teams to try to stop you, and Gandalf to deliver them to. The area covered was pretty wide and uphill, so there were lots of exhausted people at the end of the game!

Tabby in a rather unusual position while cleaning herself.

A better, and rather cute, picture of Suki

26th January

The cat that almost got away! Suki really hasn't got any sense of staying where she is when someone shows an interest in her.

25th January

This is our new dishwasher (I may have put this on already)
It is way quieter than the old one, and once we get the hang of how to place cups so that the water drains off the top, we will be winning! We are getting there, but would welcome suggestions from visiting daughters and son in law!

26th January

A slightly scary picture of the cat, but quite flattering to her as it makes her look slimmer!

This was one attempt to photograph Suki tonight!

25th January

This is the new dishwasher. We got to use it for the first time today - it took a while to get it all connected as Dad had to move the electrical socket to allow the fitting to plug in to it. In any case, he felt it was too near to the water source to be safe.
The dishwasher seems to be good and is much quieter than the previous one. We think it will take a while to learn how to load it in the most efficient way. We are definitely on a learning curve.

23rd January

Today (Saturday) we had a really late lunch (? a lun-tea) - this is me preparing some salmon pieces by rubbing Thai red curry paste on them. In front of this is a fruit salad that I had made earlier.
I thought that Jen might like to see the apron in action!
The salmon thing was absolutely yummy!

This is the finished picture, and me!

17thJanuary

We went for a walk today as the weather was fine - we went up the incline and across the golf course, then back down the incline, and to Poynton park, then home. Took lots of sheep pictures!

15th January

This has been sent from the little girl I sponsor in India. She has coloured in the brown bits on the dove, and I am supposed to fill in the others, then take a picture of me with the picture, and send it to her.

The bulbs we planted in the autumn have survived the snow and ice!

14th January

A rather grainy picture of Suki, the indolent one!

14th January

The cats have gone in to deep winter hibernation mode, and are spending a lot of time curled up on the settee, making it known that they have no urge to go out into the snow. There are no cat footprints in the snow at the back of the house. I have a theory that they walk down the passage and spend the time they are out under a bush! Today they spent time trying to avoid the young people that came round for their afternoon club.

13th January

The thaw is really getting under way now. The snow is gradually sliding off the greenhouse roof - and this side is obviously melting more quickly than the far side.

12th January

Second attempt! The slow cooker arrived today, and looks very smart. The challenge is to find it some cupboard space...

10th January

The ice formations in this shrub were really unusual. The icicles on the roof are even longer, but are dripping so are probably not going to be around for much longer.

9th January

This is Poynton pool. Most of it is frozen up (and has some dog and man footprints on the ice!!) but there is a small area of water, which the ducks and swans stand around, and swim on. You can just about make it out on the picture.

9th January

It was a lovely afternoon and we walked down to church via Towers Road, then Poynton park. It all looked very pretty!

7th January

We had some very impressive icicles hanging off the roof for a few days - this wasn't the longest one, but it was much easier to photograph! I like the pink in the sky behind the trees. And the moon, which looks like something on a branch of a tree.

This is the incline in the snow. Pretty, isn't it?
